Ocean City Fishing Report: Backwater Sizzles

Captain Bryan with Iowa Fortune dropped us a line and said that it was another great week offering up some real fantastic sight fishing opportunities once again. It was good solid Striper action all week with nice schools of Bass making a push into the back country putting them once again in some very skinny waters all week long.

Michigan Fishing Report: Walleye Action Slows

Walleye fishing in Saginaw Bay continues to be good, but has slowed considerably since the arrival of the cold front. Cooler weather has slowed fishing in many areas. Fishing should pick up as the weather warms. Continue reading Michigan Fishing Report: Walleye Action Slows

Arizona Fishing Report: Fish Remain in Urban Lakes

Bartlett Lake Bass Fishing

Although weekly stocking is over for the heat of the summer, fish are still in the urban lakes. The best cat fishing is during low light or nighttime conditions. Stinkbait and shrimp fished on the bottom is your best bet. Hot dogs, bacon and chicken livers will also entice the bite. Continue reading Arizona Fishing Report: Fish Remain in Urban Lakes

Sandy Hook Fishing Report: Big Stripers Still In The Surf

SunriseWe fished Sandy Hook late last night — arrived at 11:30 — after the tide went high at 10:30, and fished until about 3. Not a bump. However, when we arrived at the tip of the hook, we noticed that the angler next to us had nailed a large cow striper weighing about 30 pounds. So, we can safely say that Sandy Hook still has big stripers. Maybe tonight we’ll try again…

Lake Hopatcong, NJ

Recently left for dead due to accidental over lowering of the water levels, Lake Hopatcong, NJ’s largest lake has benefited from the heavy rains that have soaked the state in June. These rains have brought the water levels right back up. Just in time for summer fishing.

Delaware Bay Fishing Report: Good Croaker Action Continues

MVC-014SShirley aboard the Reliable out of Bower’s Beach dropped us a line today and said that she thought they were going to get the Monday off, but lots of people showed up to go fishing.  Thank goodness the croakers are still here, and they caught several hundred.  She said that they also landed a nice flounder and some shorts. South Jersey Fishing Report: Fluke Dominate

Fluke action continues to dominate the inshore fishing scene. Some areas are experiencing almost all throwbacks. If you are fishing for flatties and catching only shorts, try another spot that might yield bigger fish. Kingfish action has improved, but no one can get the bloodworms that the kingfish desire. Offshore action has been hit-or-miss, with many more bluefish around than tuna for those fishing for bluefins. Canyon fishing is still spotty, with some days procuring much better than others. Continue reading South Jersey Fishing Report: Fluke Dominate

Central Jersey Fishing Report: Shark Action Peaking Off Central Jersey Coast

The wind shifted to out of the South last week which drove the water temperature down inshore and turned off the fluke fishing along the beach. Offshore, shark action is reaching its summer peak with some makos and big threshers being caught just 18 miles from the beach. 3Thresher04

In Barnegat Bay, the influx of freshwater and colder temperatures had a positive effect on the weakfish as bigger fish were being found near the inlets. Despite the influx of colder water, some cobia were caught along the beach last week. Continue reading Central Jersey Fishing Report: Shark Action Peaking Off Central Jersey Coast

Good Fluke Action Found In North Jersey

Fluke fishing in northern water continues to tease anglers with a ten to one mix of shorts to keepers, and bass fishing remains an evening bite. Increasing amounts of smaller bluefish are moving into the bays, and inshore bluefishing caught fire as the full moon arrives.

It looks like fishing should be good, barring any weather problems. Good numbers of weakfish are also moving into the bays. However, it’s still about 25 shorts to every keeper. Bottom fishermen are enjoying a solid mix of sea bass, ling and tog, along with increasing amounts of porgies. The first bonito, albacore and croakers have been caught in northern waters, and we got the first reports of yellowfin being taken. Continue reading Good Fluke Action Found In North Jersey
